Atheist mocks God in one moment, faces reality in the next: Acknowledges God…

In a published testimony report by Mark Ellis of God Reports, a man named Mark Rose had just experienced a supernatural encounter with God that defied His atheism.

Raised in the secular Seventies, completely un-churched, he had no room for God until he ran out of fuel in an Alaskan storm, miles from his destination.

“I was a God mocker,” says Mark Rose, founder of Genesis Alive, and the author of Last of the Long Hunters, a story of the pilots who fly the Alaskan Arctic.

Rose learned to fly at 16, and by age 22 had become a bush pilot who helped take care of a fleet of helicopters that worked on the Alaska pipeline. “My ego meter was on 101,” he admits.

One day he flew some hunters to the upper part of a large river on the Arctic. But on his return flight, carrying one passenger, several things went wrong. First, herds of caribou had moved in, covering his first and second choices for a landing spot. Then he began to run low on fuel, so he called ahead for a weather check at the small airport near Kotzebue, on the Baldwin Peninsula.

“Come on in, the weather’s fine,” the FAA flight service operator told him.

He decided to take the chance his fuel would hold out, but then weather conditions changed dramatically. “I ran into a snowstorm at night, and I couldn’t see the terrain, so I had to follow the gray ribbon of river below.” In the days before satellite weather imaging, the man had given him bad advice.

“All my options were evaporating as fast as I could fly.”

Rose had several friends – fellow pilots – who perished in similar flying conditions. There must be a way out, he thought. I don’t want to die at 22I won’t get to experience marriage…

He had been flying on empty for 30 minutes. Then the engine started missing. “I was just waiting for silence and to have to crash at night.”

His mind turned to his very last option – God. Rose had never prayed before, but in desperation, he lifted up a silent prayer. If there is a God, I need your help now.

Then a voice spoke to him that was crystal clear. Son, you said the right thing. After he heard the voiceRose also experienced the sensation of “a light bulb” that came on in his mind.

Immediately after his prayer, the plane popped out of the snowstorm! “Before me were the beautiful lights of Kotzebue – it might as well have been the lights of heaven,” he recalls.

There was only one problem – he still had to fly another 20 miles over the Kotzebue Sound, a broad expanse of salt water north of the Bering Sea.

“That was a breath-holder,” he says. When he landed safely at Kotzebue Airport, his humanist worldview collapsed. There was no earthly reason his plane should have traveled such a distance with no fuel.

Rose believes God added an hour of fuel to his tanks to save his life. “When I landed I was a different boy. I was not a Christian, but I was a believer in God.”

He thought about his grandmother, the only Christian in his family. So gramma was right; there is something out there, he thought.

Rose started to date a Christian woman who challenged him to read the Bible for the first time. As he read the pages of Scripture, something surprising happened. “I fell in love with the God of the Bible – his reasonableness, his forgiveness, his justice,” he recounts.

But his stubborn heart was still not ready to make Jesus his Savior and Lord.

Then he had another brush with death in a helicopter that crashed, which completely flattened the seat he rode in.

About the same time, he missed a flight with some of the lead contractors for the Alaskan pipeline due to a schedule conflict. Shortly after the plane took off, it crashed, killing everyone aboard.

Later, on a flight to Fairbanks on a bush aircraft, he began to reflect on his life. I’m not happy. This whole thing is not working, he admitted to himself.

Everything I read in the Bible is either a lie or its true. It’s all or nothing. From reading the Bible I understand God is my creator. If Jesus can raise someone from the dead and forgive my sins, that’s exactly what God has for me.

At that moment, Rose surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. “When I landed in Fairbanks I was a different boy, once again.”

Who created God? Where did God come from? 3

god-the-only-cause-and-creator-12-08-13

Concluding part

God is God…To comprehend this, you need Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, the HolySpirit as your teacher and God as your father…The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him,: nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corr 2:14

‘How do we know this? We know that from nothing, nothing comes. So, if there were ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence, then nothing would have ever come into existence. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been in existence. That ever-existing thing is what we call God. God is the uncaused Being that caused everything else to come into existence. God is the uncreated Creator who created the universe and everything in it’.

So, Jesus answered and said to them,’Have faith in God’ Mark 11:22

The post has been carefully, segmented into 3 parts, read carefully, you’ll cover in minutes, but the truth is eternal.

‘A common argument from atheists and skeptics is that if all things need a cause, then God must also need a cause. The conclusion is that if God needed a cause, then God is not God (and if God is not God, then of course there is no God). This is a slightly more sophisticated form of the basic question “Who made God?” Everyone knows that something does not come from nothing. So, if God is a “something,” then He must have a cause, right?’

‘The question is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that God came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, “What does blue smell like?” Blue is not in the category of things that have a smell, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, God is not in the category of things that are created or caused. God is uncaused and uncreated – He simply exists’.

The wonder Working Reliable Truth (The Word of God) 3

Concluding Part

The other morning, we had gone for morning workout, I left him behind though, when I returned, he told me that he had been looking for me, that just like I said, his brother had called him, had apologized for his uncanny and selfish behavior and had promised to pay back whatever he owed him, he said that he was really surprised and that it happened just as I said that it would.

I laughed afterwards, because I never told him any specified way of going about it, I only told him about the scriptures that I had read and God honoured His word. Friends, God is faithful, He is ever true to His word.

You don’t need to always know how God will go about things; your major business is to obey His word always. I relied on the word and knew that I just had to speak that word and it worked. The word worked and it still works.the word

The Wonder Working Reliable Truth (The Word of God) 2

Continued from post 1

As I approached the bunk side, I felt that this was quite unusual, so, I asked him what the matter was, he initially concealed it but I told him that no matter what it was, his present reaction wouldn’t provide a solution to the problem, he later agreed to what I said and confided in me. He said that it was connected to an uncle of his that had cheated him in some way (the issue was financial).

In my heart, I knew that it was terrible for a blood relation to go that far exploiting one to whom he should have been a benefactor. I said to him that no matter how he felt, his present reaction wouldn’t change a thing, that the only thing that would change the situation was prayer. Then I opened the scriptures to the book of Phil 4:6 ‘be anxious for nothing but in everything through prayer and supplications with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God… I told him that God had said that we needn’t be anxious or react negatively about these things that happen to us but rather in all those things, we have to be given to prayer.

I afterwards told him that what happened in the next verse would follow afterwards when we do that which the Lord asked us to do. I told him that if we prayed and trusted the Lord and thank him despite the reality of our problems, he would turn the situation around and we would afterwards have peace, an overwhelming peace, described as being beyond us. I told him further that his brother would call him and promise to pay back the money owed him. He accepted reluctantly.  the word

The Wonder Working Reliable Truth (The Word of God) 1

God’s word is true and is the truth, He is bigger than all of us, than all things, He is more real than anything in existence, visible or invisible, He is stronger and more forceful than anything that ever was and any that will ever be. I chose the personal pronoun Him and not it because this word is a person not a thing, the scriptures testify about Him. I had an encounter sometime ago which strengthened my faith in the Lord and belief in the word. I’ll share below.

During my national youth service program which lasted a year as is the standard for all fresh graduates in Nigeria, West Africa, I met a young man at the orientation camp, which housed all the state corps members for the first 3 weeks; his name is Emmanuel. We were bunk neighbors and had grown to become friends within the first few days of our convergence. He was a gentle and easy going fellow. In one of those days, something happened; we had just returned from one of our many routines, he hadn’t joined in that evening instead was inside the cabin, lamenting over something that had displeased him, he was sore displeased that he was talking to himself not taking cognizance of it.
